8 killed and 2 injured in an armed clash between two armed groups in Kharan

QUETTA: Eight people were killed and two others were injured on Thursday in an armed clash between two armed groups in Kharan district, a security official said.
The official, who requested not to be named, told media persons that the two armed groups clashed in Baseema checkpost area of Kharan.
"Seven men belonging to one group were killed, while one person from the other group died during the exchange of fire," he said.
He added that both sides used heavy weapons.
Panic prevailed among the people of the area in the aftermath of the clash, he said.
The official stated that law enforcers were being dispatched into the area to bring the situation under control.

Cabinet meeting: Govt’s final decision about Taliban likely today

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet meet got underway in Islamabad today (Tuesday) to discuss key national issues, including the process of dialogue with Taliban and options of military action against them, media reported. According to sources, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar will table the five-year National Security Policy before the cabinet for approval. He would brief the cabinet about the overall law and order situation in the country as well as measures being taken to combat militancy.
