Claims of Jamshed Dasti are baseless

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan has declared “baseless” the claims made by an independent member of the National Assembly Jamshed Dasti. Addressing the National Assembly session, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said there is a record of CCTV video of several months for the parliament lodges. He asked to identify the day when immoral activity took place. The minister said that all vehicles except of MNAs and Senators are thoroughly checked. He said the parliament lodges are home to parliamentarians, where their families are also residing. He said that security official told him that Mujras (dance parties) are not held in the parliament lodges. Security personnel have been doubled in the parliament lodges, he added.

Karachi: 2 killed in firing outside a mosque

KARACHI: At least two people have been killed and two others injured in a firing incident outside a mosque in the North Nazimabad area of the city, media reported. Police say assailants riding motorbikes opened fire outside the mosque near Gol Market. A car accompanying the attackers was parked on the opposite side of the road. Police add the two people killed in the firing incident were affiliated with political parties.

Fire in the servant residential quarter at Nishtar Hospital

MULTAN: A fire broke out in the servant residential quarter at Nishtar Hospital here in Multan on Thursday night. One stroke patient died in accident. The fire had started due stove burning in the room. The hospital staff and Rescue 1122 officials shifted two children to wards of the hospital. Heavy smoke filled the entire building after the fire broke out. The rescue officials have stated that the fire was brought under control whereas the administration of the hospital has said that the investigation of the case will be held.

PESHAWAR: Interior Minister of Pakistan Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday said the government has made crucial decisions in relation to the country's security which it would be announcing soon, media reported. Addressing a press conference at the Governor House in Peshawar, the minister said despite the events of the past several days, the government still preferred the route of peace talks with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).     He said the government was sincerely working towards establishing peace in the country, adding that it would remove all the stumbling blocks that lay on the road ahead.     Ch. Religious scholar Allama Taqi Hadi Naqvi shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: A religious scholar Allama Taqi Hadi  Naqvi was shot dead in Karachi's Nazimabad area on Thursday , media reported. Unknown gunmen opened fire on a vehicle near board office intersection in Nazimabad area of Karachi killing Allama Taqi Hadi Naqvi. According to police, the incident took place when four unidentified armed men riding motorbikes opened fire at the rickshaw Allama Naqvi was riding in, resultantly he lost his life on the spot. The body was taken to the hospital. Police have launched an investigation into the murder. Meanwhile, Shia Ulema Council (SUC) Chief Allama Sajid Naqvi expressed grief over the killing of Allama Taqi Hadi Naqvi. Liquor, girls being brought to parliament lodges, alleges MNA Jamshed Dasti

ISLAMABAD: Independent Member National Assembly from south punjab district Muzzafargarh Jamshed Dasti has made serios claims in the lower house of the parliament, saying that liquor worth Rs 40 to 50 millions is annually supplied to the parliament lodges. Addressing the National Assembly session here Thursday, Dasti put forward a demand to hold screening tests of the parliamentarians. He claimed that girls have also been brought in the parliament lodges for ‘immoral activities.’ There is always a smell of charas in the lodges, he added. Acting Speaker Naeema Kishore turning off Jamshed Dasti’s mic said that he might have informed about the details in the speaker’s chamber along with the evidences supporting his claims.

Ch. Nisar presents National Security Policy in NA

ISLAMABAD: In order to deal with the menace of terrorism, the government has decided on a major policy shift under which attacks from militants would be met with an appropriate military response, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told the National Assembly on Wednesday. Formally unveiling the document of the country’s national security policy in the House, Nisar said the direction was agreed upon unanimously, adding that the government had consulted with all political forces for its formation. The minister said that Pakistan could not cope with the prevailing situation in the absence of the security policy. He added that there was a lack of coordination among the security and intelligence agencies and they would be brought under one umbrella. At least 6 killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI : Target killing continues in Karachi as six people including a women were shot dead in the city, media reported. According to details, A body was found from north Karachi while a bullet riddle body was found from Gulbahar area. A dead body of a young man was found from dastagir area, Police said he hanged himself to death, while a woman body was also found from Landhi in the same condition. In another firing incident, a person was killed at a motorcycle workshop near Gulbahar area. Earlier on Monday, a professor was killed as a result of firing at Fatmia Hospital’s gate in Soldier Bazaar area whereas a student was severely injured. Meanwhile, Rangers personnel conducted targeted operations in Mangopir, Orangi Town, MPR Colony areas of Karachi and claimed the arrest of 11 suspects, along with the recovery of arms and ammunition. Peshawar: Three people were killed including a women in remote area of the city, media reported. According to the police sources, three person including a women was killed on account of honor killing near Matra police station. Police said that the incident took plane after the midnight when the assilent enter the house and open fire, killing all three at the spot. The deceased were identified as Fazal muhammad, Muntazir while the women was identified as Afshan. Police already registered the case nad has arrested one man allegedly involved in the killing.

PTI Nato blockade illegal:PHC ruling

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High court (PHC) on Tuesday declared sit-in staged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its allied parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to block NATO supplies as illegal. The PHC gave its ruling while hearing a petition filed against NATO supply blockade in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, arguing that it was illegal and causing harm. The PTI and its coalition partners in the provincial government have set up NATO supply blockade camps at five points in four districts of the province since November 23,2013 in protest against the US drone strikes in Pakistan. The PTI activists were checking customs documents listing the goods being transported to Afghanistan and only those containers were being allowed to enter Afghanistan which carried goods other than supplies for NATO troops.

Cabinet meeting: Govt’s final decision about Taliban likely today

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet meet got underway in Islamabad today (Tuesday) to discuss key national issues, including the process of dialogue with Taliban and options of military action against them, media reported. According to sources, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar will table the five-year National Security Policy before the cabinet for approval. He would brief the cabinet about the overall law and order situation in the country as well as measures being taken to combat militancy. Sources said that important decisions regarding dialogue with Taliban and action against militants in North Waziristan are also likely to be made during today’s session. They added that the prime minister would take cabinet members in confidence about negotiations with the Taliban and the government future course of strategy.

KARACHI:Cylinder explosion injures four in Liaquatabad

KARACHI: Seven members of a family were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in Liaquatabad area of Karachi on Tuesday morning, media reported. According to the sources, a house was badly damaged and seven persons including women and Children were left with injuries when a cylinder went off with an explosion due to gas leakage in Liaquatabad. The injured were shifted to hospital for treatment.

PTI mulls to support military operation in N Waziristan: sources

6 killed in Lyari area of Karachi

KARACHI: At least six people were killed, including three in Lyari violence, across Karachi on Sunday while Rangers has claimed 25 accused. The war erupted in two gang war groups that claimed three lives while one person was shot dead in Orangi Town as police arrested the accused. A rickshaw driver was gunned down in Gulshan-e-Myamar as Yar Muhammad was killed in SITE area in firing by unidentified persons. Islamabad:Fuss at Islamic university as girls ‘confined’ at hostel

I SLAMABAD: Three female students of International Islamic University Islamabad made it to the television headlines on Saturday as a court bailiff recovered them from the university hostel where they were allegedly confined by the administration. The university administration however denied the charges strongly, arguing the students were expelled from hostel through disciplinary action, but they opted to lock themselves up in hostel rooms and create the mess through electronic media coverage. Neelum Jehan, Romana and Hiba were allegedly confined by the hostel administration Friday evening with no food and water, and the bailiff recovered them after more than 18 hours of confinement. Taking notice of the media reports, district and sessions judge Raja Jawad Abbas appointed a court official as bailiff to recover the girls. Kohat: 12 killed in Peshawar Chowk blast

KOHAT: An explosion occurred near Police Line at Peshawar Chowk in Kohat, killing at least 12 people and injuring several others on Sunday, media reported. Police Inspector General (IG) Nasir Khan Durrani told media persons said the blast took place near a pickup van at Peshawar Chowk on Kohat-Hangu Road. All the passengers in the vehicle lost their lives while several others including a woman sustained injuries. Provincial health minister said that twelve people lost their lives in the explosion while 16 more sustained injuries. Kohat-Hangu Road was blocked for traffic following the incident, while the bodies and injured persons were rushed to nearby hospital. Police put the security cordon, while bomb disposal squad has also been called in. Further details of the attack and nature of the blast were not known till the filing of this report.

19 Afghan soldiers killed and 7 missing in Taliban attack

KABUL: Officials sources say the Taliban have attacked an army checkpoint in eastern Afghanistan, leaving 19 soldiers dead and seven missing. Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, who is spokesman for the Defence Ministry, said the attack happened in the Ghazi Abad district of Kunarr Province early Sunday morning. He confirmed that 19 soldiers were dead and two injured. He said an investigation and search and rescue operation is underway. Abdul Ghani Musamem, spokesman for the governor of Kunarr Province, said seven soldiers were missing following the attack. It was not immediately clear if the soldiers had been kidnapped or had fled during the assault. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in an emailed statement, saying that one of their insurgents was killed and two were wounded.

PESHAWAR: At least 18 terrorists were killed and several sustained injuries in the air strikes at the militant hideouts in the valley of Terah in Khyber Agency on Sunday morning here, sources said. Sources said that the security forces air strikes targeted the militant hideouts located at Toot Darra, Dohtavi and Ghaibineeka that destroyed several hideouts of the defunct Tehrik-e-Taliban on Sunday morning. Sources further said that at least 18 terrorists were killed and several injured besides a factory making bombs, arms and ammunitions was also razed to the ground during the air action of the security forces.

A Pakistani prisoner found dead in Indian jail

SRINAGAR: Officials at a jail in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir say a Pakistani prisoner has committed suicide. Jail superintendent Harish Kotwal says Showkat Ali used a scarf to hang himself from the iron bars of a toilet window at the jail in Jammu city. His body was found early Saturday. Ali was arrested in 2011 after he crossed into Indian territory. Top prison official K. Rajendra says an inquiry has been ordered into Ali's death. The Himalayan region of Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan, with both countries claiming it in its entirety. The two countries share a porous border, and scores of Indian and Pakistani prisoners are languishing in each other's jails after being caught without the proper papers.

No women and children are in custody of Pak army:ISPR

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has categorically rejected allegations levelled by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan's (TTP) that women and children from their families were in the custody of security forces' personnel. Commenting on the issue, a spokesman for the inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said not a single woman or child was in the custody of security forces' personnel. "In fact, women and children have never been detained," the spokesman said in a statement. The military spokesman moreover termed the TTP's accusation baseless and said it was mere propaganda to divert attention from the real issue of the group's blatant and dastardly acts of terror across the country.

9 militants were killed on Saturday in gunship helicopters shelling in Hangu

HANGU: Nine militants were reportedly killed on Saturday after gunship helicopters pounded their hideouts in Hangu’s Tal tehsil, media reported. Security officials confirmed the strikes. The officials said the military launched the attack after confirming reports about the presence of militants in Tal. They spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to talk to the media. According to sources, gunship helicopters shelled suspected militants’ positions in Tora Wari and Dar Samand areas of Tal, following which nine militants were killed whereas several hideouts were destroyed. Sources added that gunships continued to hover after the shelling whereas panic spread in the area. MQM to hold anti-terror rally tomorrow in Karachi

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will stage a rally in the port city of Karachi tomorrow to show its solidarity with the Pakistan Army, Rangers and other law enforcement personnel fighting against terrorism, media reported. PESHAWAR: TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid on Friday said the Taliban were ready for talks despite the fact that the recent bombardment in North Waziristan was proof of the government's insincerity. 8 killed and 2 injured in an armed clash between two armed groups in Kharan

QUETTA: Eight people were killed and two others were injured on Thursday in an armed clash between two armed groups in Kharan district, a security official said. The official, who requested not to be named, told media persons that the two armed groups clashed in Baseema checkpost area of Kharan. "Seven men belonging to one group were killed, while one person from the other group died during the exchange of fire," he said. He added that both sides used heavy weapons. Panic prevailed among the people of the area in the aftermath of the clash, he said. The official stated that law enforcers were being dispatched into the area to bring the situation under control.

North Waziristan airstrikes must be stopped immediately: Munawar Hassan

LAHORE- Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Syed Munawar Hassan said the airstrikes in North Waziristan should be stopped immediat ely.  if the government had decided over military operation they sh ould also inform the decision over the military operation , media reported. Talking to journalists in Lahore today, Munawar Hassan said the government should formally announce its decision before planning an operation against the Taliban. ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani took suo motu notice of the Pakistani Taliban’s threat to Ismailis and the Kalash tribe in the picturesque Chitral Valley in northern Pakistan on Thursday, media reported. In a 50-minute long video released on Feb 2 on the TTP media wing's website, the Pakistani Taliban had announced an “armed struggle” against the Kalash and Ismailis. The narrator warned the Kalash, who are thought to number only 3,500, to convert to Islam or face death. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Office informed on Thursday that investigation is currently underway to ascertain that when and where 23 Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred and if necessary, Afghan government would be contacted too, news4sub reported. Pakistan’s Foreign Office has denied reports regarding large scale troops being sent to Saudi Arabia. Addressing weekly news briefing today, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said there is no veracity in reports about sending of one hundred thousand Pakistani troops to Saudi Arabia. Pakistan is already facing threats at eastern and western borders, the state can’t afford sending large scale troops to Saudi Arabia, she said. Warplanes bombard Militants hideouts in North Waziristan; 35 militants killed

PESHAWAR: At least 35 militants were killed Thursday as Pakistani fighter jets targeted suspected militant hideouts in three different tehsils of North Waziristan tribal region. According to the sources, the aircraft bombarded suspected militant hideouts in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan as part of surgical strikes which they said should not be taken as military operation. The strike killed 35 militants that included both locals and foreigners. "There are confirmed reports of 35 militants including foreigners killed in these airstrikes," a senior security official told, adding that the attacks focused on the town of Mir Ali and surrounding areas of North Waziristan. PESHAWAR: The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Wednesday put forth their conditions for ceasefire, days after the militant group killed 23 Pakistan army soldiers in revenge for the killing of their colleagues. TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid informed the media of the Taliban demands which call for an end to the arrest of Taliban members and their deaths in police encounters.
