SA demands to end Council of Islamic Ideology

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly passed a resolution against the recommendations of the  Council Islamic Ideology on Monday and demanded for the end of its existence . The resolution was moved by Pakistan Muslim League-Functional’s (PML-F) leader Mehtab Akhtar Rashidi. The Assembly expressed serious reservations over the recent decisions taken by the CII with regards to women. It moreover demanded of the federal government that any implementation of the CII’s recommendations on underage marriages and DNA tests should be stopped The CII has come under fire with its controversial statements and rulings. Earlier this month, the CII had ruled that  laws related to minimum age of marriage  were un-Islamic and that children of any age could get married if they attain puberty. Jirga Case: SHC grants bail to Ghaus Bakhsh Mehar

SHIKARPUR: Sindh High Court  has granted bail of five lac rupees to Ghaus Bakhsh Mehar in Shikarpur Jirga Case. SHC directed Ghaus Bakhsh Mehar to submit surety bonds of five lac rupees and contact to the relevant court within 10 days. Nadir Shah and Mehboob Ali have been directed to submit security guarantees in Shikarpur Jirga Case, while two accused involved in Jirga case have been arrested. Hence Member National Assembly Ghaus Bux Mehar including 2 suspects were  declared fugitives earlier.

SC verdict: Govt will decide Musharraf fate over ECL

ISLAMABAD: Special Court has disallowing former President Pervez Musharraf to go abroad on Monday said his name was entered in Exit Control List by government not court and government could only decide his fate. Musharraf wants to go abroad for looking after his mother, who is hospitalized in Shariah. Court in its order said that his name was entered in Exit Control List (ECL) by government not court as he was not in court custody. Court further said ” Government has imposed bar on him and government can only remove his name from ECL as Musharraf is not in court custody, therefore the case is not in court jurisdiction.”  

Three gangsters killed, 13 arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: Three gang war accused were killed in police encounter while Rangers have arrested 13 alleged accused during search operation in various parts of the Metropolitan. The encounter was taken place in Baldia Town that left three alleged gangsters killed and identified as Jaseem Golden, Shahid Mix Patti and Shoaib and the having links with Baba Ladla Group. Firing claimed life of a person in Orangi Town while two people were injured in firing by unidentified armed men near Kala Pul. In Mujahid Colony Rangers conducted mass search operation in which three hundred personnel have taken part including women personnel as well. Rangers captured 13 alleged accused and recovered arms form their possession.

Thar famine: Four year old Sunil Kumar dies

THARPARKAR: Four year old Sunil Kumar died of Thar famine. The death toll has reached to 235. Thar famines has been taking lives. Four year old Sunil Kumar died today in Chilhar District. Sunil had been discharged from Civil Hospital Mithi a day before. So far 235 people died of drought in Thar. On the other hand, Provision of aid facilities by Government limited to announcements. The victims said that relief is limited to urban areas only. Most villages in the district were deprived of aid including Food and medicine.  

Treason Case: Court issues non bailable warrant of Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: Non Bailable arrest warrants issued by a special court has been reached to former President Pervez Musharraf. In case of refusal, arrest strategy has been developed for Musharraf. According to police sources, a non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued to former President Pervez Musharraf and was being informed, hence Pervez Musharraf has not yet expressed any opinion to be presented in the court. A special team of police force headed by SP Mustansir Feroz, would reach tomorrow eight o’clock to  Army Institute of Cardiology AFIC in the morning. In case of denial to present to court arrest plan has been formed for Musharraf.
MIRANSHAH: A passing by security convoy narrowly escaped a remote control explosion on Sunday morning here. Sources said that some unknown persons had planted a remote control bomb at Miranshah-Dattakhel Road, which went off with a big bang, but missing the target as the security forces convoy on way from Miranshsh to Dattakhel had just passed by and fortunately no loss of life occurred. Following the blast, North Waziristan Agency (NWA) has been put under an indefinite curfew since 6.00 A.M. this morning.

Islami Jamiat Talba threats to seal Lahore

LAHORE: Islami Jamiat Talba has threatened to seal Lahore on the issue of arrest in Punjab University. Leaders of Jamiat said that if arrested students would not release then entry and exit ways of Lahore were sealed on Monday. The tension between Punjab University administration and Jamiat is constantly on. Two days before 13 students were arrested over protest on Kanal Road while University Administration charged sheet against two students and arrested students are on Police remand. Workers of Jamiat protested outside the Central Mosque of Punjab University after the Friday prayer and warned the administration and police that if arrested students would not release in two days then Jamiat would seal Lahore on  Monday. During the protest a large number of Security Guards of Punjab University were deployed there.

Grenade attack on Thai anti-graft office ahead of PM hearing

BANGKOK: Grenades were thrown at the offices of Thailand’s anti-corruption agency, which has summoned the prime minister to answer charges of dereliction of duty next week, as protesters trying to oust her prepared for a big weekend rally. Nobody was injured in the overnight attack, the second on the agency’s offices this week, police said on Friday. It was not clear who threw the grenades. Supporters of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra have been demonstrating at the building this week. The National Anti-Corruption Commission is examining the alleged failure of Yingluck to stop corruption and stem huge losses in a government rice-buying program. It is widely expected to recommend her impeachment by the Senate. If the Senate takes up the case, Yingluck will have to step aside, with a deputy prime minister expected to take over. No contact after meeting Taliban Council: Prof. Ibrahim

ISLAMABAD: Member of Taliban Committee Professor Ibrahim said that the Government committee meeting was expected soon and positive efforts were being made from both sides for the success of negotiations. Talking to media persons on the telephone, Professor Ibrahim said that he has no contact with Taliban after the meeting with Taliban Shura. “It’s not yet decided, when and where to meet with Taliban again”, he said.

IG Sindh Appointment: SC deadline ends

KARACHI: Deadline given by the Supreme Court expired today (Friday) but the Provincial Government could not appoint new IG Sindh. Supreme Court allowed Sindh Government to appoint IG Sindh until March 27, which the Sindh Government could not meet the prescribed time. A Cold War was continuing  between Federal and Provincial Government on the issue of appointment of IG Sindh. The Provincial Government had objected on three names sent by Federal Government. Different names were being considered for the appointment of the Police chief in the province. According to sources, Mir Zubair, Iqbal Mahmood and Fayyaz Leghari were being considered as strongest candidates for the appointment of Highest official of the province.

Lahore: 2 alleged encounters, 3 robbers shot dead

LAHORE: Three robbers killed in 2 alleged police encounters. Dacoits identified as Sikandar Billi and Nadeem Dima. According to SP CIA Umar Virk, police imposed blockade on Ravi Road. In the meantime, police asked two suspected persons on motor cycle to stop, but the suspected did not stop and opened fires on police, the police returned fire and killed two dacoits on the spot. Robbers have been identified as Alexander Billi and Nadeem Dima. According to SP Umar Virk both suspects were involved in several cases of murder and robbery. One more robbers was killed in an alleged police encounter in Peer Village Bedian Road.

Four killed, 13 Injured in Motorway bus crash

PIND DADAN KHAN: Four passenger were killed and thirteen others sustained traumatic injuries in roadside accident. According to Motorway police the mishap fell out after a passenger bus fell off the road and into a ravine several meters below in Pind Dadan Khan. The bus was on its way from Pirkharan to Jahng when the tragedy struck. Emergency responders have kicked off rescue work.

Committee will again visit North waziristan soon:Ibrahim

ISLAMABAD: Taliban liaison committee member Prof. Ibrahim said that exchange of prisoners and many other issues were discussed during meeting with Taliban. He said that the confidence building process has started and soon the committee would visit North Waziristan again. Talking to media persons in a telephonic conversation in Islamabad, Prof. Ibrahim said that no demands were put forward from Taliban in the meeting with Government Committee. Question for Authorization was being raised by both committees. He said that talks were focused to restore peace and confidence building.   “Positive progress is going on in negotiations. Insha Allah next meeting is expected soon”, Professor Ibrahim said. He added that both parties were motivated towards seeking peace and appreciated Prime Minister’s efforts for taking positive steps for peace process.

One killed two Injured in Maymar factory fire

Karachi: A man worker lost his life and two other got severe burs when a fire broke out in a towel factory in Ghulshan e Myamar Area. According to the rescue source, The fire broke out due to the short circuit first in the basement and extended up. At least eight Fire Brigade tucks are trying to put out the fire. The injured and the bodies were shifted to the hospital.

Pakistan condemns death of Iranian border guard :FO

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam  expressing regret over the alleged killing of Iranian border guard  said that Pakistan would provide assistance to probe the incident if Iran needed. She said in a statement that Pakistan would provide assistance  to find out kidnapped guards, who were missed from border areas one month ago. She further said that Pakistan attached great importance to Pak-Iran relations as they carry mutual respect. Pakistan would provide security help on any information in this connection.  Five Iranian guards had been abducted last month from Seistan, border area of Iran links with Pakistan.

SC reserves judgement for prosecutor’s appointment

  ISLAMABAD: Special Court reserved decision related appointment of special prosecutor against high treason case. Anwar Mansoor said that Akram Shaikh has presented Musharraf as a criminal and gave judgement as well, while Akram Shaikh said that if there was any suspect on him of being biased then court is authorised to separate him from the case. Headed by Justice Faisal Arab in a three member bench heard the treason case. Akram Shaikh provided evidences of apointment of prosecutor instead of Advocate Dr. Tariq Hasan and said that he had been appointed by the competent authority. He also submitted the copy of notification for appointment of the prosecutor. Akram Shaikh informed the court that his TV interview would not appear biased. He said that he did not conceal evidence then ther is no reason of being called biased. PM urges implementation on Nuclear Conference decisions

HAGUE: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday stressed for strict implementation of decision made by Nuclear Conference and constant vigilance and preparedness at the national level as well as international cooperation, which were necessary to strengthen the nuclear security. “Let me clarify that there is no such thing as ‘nuclear security fatigue’. Nuclear security is a continuous national responsibility,” the Prime Minister said in his opening remarks at the ‘Informal Plenary on the future of the Nuclear Security Summit’. He suggested that in the years to come, the states should maintain the political will and high level focus to advance the agenda of nuclear security. “In future, while implementing our decisions, we have to strike a balance between confidentiality and openness; and steer away from both alarmism and complacency. Musharraf plea for transfer treason case to army court rejected

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has rejected the application lodged by Musharaf , transfer of high treason case to army Court, against the verdicts of special court on Tuesday. Registrar Supreme Court objecting that different kinds of verdicts  given by Special Court could not be  challenged in one application, hence review petition against verdicts of Special Court can be challenged. Petition was lodged by Musharaf to Supreme Court regarding the verdicts of Special Court and Islamabad High Court.

PM Nawaz Sharif meets Merkel in Nuclear Summit

HAGUE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the sidelines of 3rd Nuclear Security Summit on Tuesday. Nawaz Sharif and Merkel exchanged views on the prospects of bilateral cooperation in different sectors. They also discussed regional situation. PM Nawaz assured Merkel that Pakistan would fully cooperate in the process of the withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan. She lauded Pakistan’s role in the reconciliation process in Afghanistan. Later talking to journalists, Nawaz Sharif said talks with German Chancellor were fruitful.

SC seeks DNA report of Khuzdar victims tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed Balochistan government to present DNA report of Khuzdar mass grave victims till tomorrow (Wednesday). Three-member bench headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk was hearing Balochistan law and order case here Tuesday. During the hearing, the apex court expressed displeasure for not conducting DNA test of the victims of mass grave. Late, the court directed the provincial government to present DNA test report till tomorrow and adjourned the hearing. Suo Moto Notice Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Gilani had also taken suo moto notice of the discovery of mass graves near Tootak in Khuzdar. The thirteen bodies in a decomposed state in the mass graves were discovered by a local shepherd.

Karachi:Sindh police claims 1308 criminal gangs removed

KARACHI: Sindh Police have claimed the removal of 1308 gangs from Karachi, within two and a half months time this year. In a briefing to the delegation of National Management Course, at Central Police Office Karachi, IG sindh Iqbal Mahmood said that this year from January to March, Police did 3701 Police encounters, while 1308 criminal gangs have been removed. Hence, 84 terrorists, 178 extortionists, 220 kidnappers, 43637 fugitives and 6550 proclaimed offenders have been apprehended.

Tharparkar Famine: Victims of drought still deprive of aid

THARPARKAR: Despite of all claims by administration in Tharparkar, drought victims were still deprived of aid facilities. Death toll continued to rise without stopping in Thar desert. Karachi Violence: Four people dead

Karachi: Two people killed and one injured due to firing, while police arrested a robber. According to the details, one man was shot dead by unidentified persons in Baldia Ittehad Town. Another man lost his life in Baldia Town no. 7 due to firing. Police shifted victim’s body to the hospital for autopsy. A man was injured due to firing by unidentified persons near Singer Chorangi who has been shifted to hospital immediately where he succumbed to death. A dead body of a woman was found near Baldia Mawach Goth this morning. Police said that she had been tortured badly. Meanwhile, Gizri Police arrested a robber Adeel in a targetted raid and recovered weapons and mobile phones.

Lahore: Roof Collapse, 4 people buried under rubble

Lahore: Roof collapsed of a house buried four people under the rubble, injured were then shifted to hospital immediately. According to the sources, roof of a house was flattened by the rain in Wasan Pur area of Lahore. According to Police Station Baghbanpura the state of the house was dilapidated, which caused the accident. Zakaullah, his wife and their four children were buried under the rubble due to the accident, who then were rescued and shifted to Meo Hospital where they were under treatment, hence their condition is said to be stable.

‘Qaeda attack’ kills 20 Yemen soldiers

ADEN: Gunmen killed 20 Yemeni soldiers in a dawn attack on a checkpoint Monday, most of them in their sleep, in the latest in a wave of deadly violence blamed on Al-Qaeda. The assault came in the eastern province of Hadramawt were the security forces have suffered repeated losses which prompted President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi to fire his interior minister earlier this month. "Twenty soldiers were killed in the armed attack on an army checkpoint" near Reida, 135 kilometres (85 miles) east of the provincial capital Mukalla, the official Saba news agency reported. The assailants drove up to the checkpoint in a convoy of vehicles, raking the soldiers on duty with automatic weapons before hurling grenades at an adjacent tent where the majority of the contingent were asleep, a military source told AFP. Missing person Case: Trial court summons DG ISI

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court has summoned DG ISI in next hearing for missing person case. Court asked why Intelligence Agencies were always  accused for missing people? Justice   Riaz   Ahmad heard the plea of missing person Muhammad Arif in Islamabad High Court. Lawyer of petitioner said that every missing person was being captured by Intelligence Agencies, on Which Justice Riaz Ahmed said that it was blamed to Intelligence agency ISI for capturing the Muhammad Arif. Court asked ” is there any law or constitution in this country ” ? Standing Council requested for six weeks time for submitting report on the behalf of Intelligence Agencies which was refused by the court. Court has summoned DG ISI in the next hearing and case was adjourned until next week.
RATODERO: Slain leaders of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) Maqsood Qureshi and Salman Wadho have been buried in Ratodero near the mausoleum of Bashir Khan Qureshi. Earlier, the body of Maqsood Qureshi was transferred to Ratodero, while Salman’s body to Garhi Yaseen Shikarpur. Large number of JSQM workers and their relatives participated in the funeral prayers of Maqsood and Salman. Meanwhile, shutter down strike is being observed in Ratodero. Mqasood Qureshi, brother of Bashir Qureshi, and Salman Wadho were found dead in a car in Naushero Feroze on Friday.

Taliban are in contact, meeting expected soon: Prof. Ibrahim

ISLAMABAD: Member for Taliban negotiating Committee Professor Ibrahim said that he is in continuous contact with Taiban and the meeting was expected in a day or two.  It was being heard that the name was being kept confidential after consultations by stakeholders. Talking to AbbTakk News, here in Islamabad, Professor Ibrahim said that measures are being taken for talks with TTP, hence peace is the fundamental point for talks, further including prisoners everything will be discussed to bring peace to the country. Afghanistan insists foreign hand in hotel attack, despite Taliiban claim

KABUL: Afghanistan's presidency says its spy agency believes that a foreign intelligence service, and not the country's main militant groups, was behind the attack on a Kabul hotel last week that killed nine people, including two children and four foreigners. A statement from President Hamid Karzai's office said the spy agency briefed Afghanistan's top security officials. In that briefing the agency said: "The attack on the Serena Hotel was a direct attack by an intelligence service outside the country." It did not specify which country was purportedly responsible for the assault, but Afghanistan routinely accuses Pakistan of sending militants across the border to wage attacks. Pakistan did not immediately comment on the allegations. The agency said neither the Taliban nor the Haqqani group, a network believed responsible for numerous high-profile attacks in Kabul, was even aware the attack was in the offing. Transporters end strike in Thar

KARACHI: Chief Minister took notice of transporters strike in Thar, transporters ended the strike after a detailed talks with elected members. CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah took notice of breakdown of aid activities due to transporter’s strike and directed MPA Dr. Mahesh Mehlani  and MNA Faqeer Sher Muhammad Balalni to hold talks with transporters. Transporters successfully accomplished their demands and MPA Dr Mahesh Mehlani and MNA Faqeer Sher Muhammad Balalni assured the transporters regarding paying their remaining amount. After that transporters ended strike and started to deliver goods again.

Change of guard ceremony at Mazar-e-Iqbal: Lahore

LAHORE: On the occasion of Pakistan day change of guard ceremony held at Mazar-e-Iqbal in Lahore, where Air Force troop took the charge of security. Today at Mazar-e-Iqbal Pakistan Ranger’s troop transferred the security responsibilities to Pakistan Air Force troop. Vice Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar was the honorable chief guest of this ceremony. Air Commodore Naeem ur Rehman, Base Commander Pakistan and Air Force Lahore were also present in this ceremony. Honorable guests put flowers on Mazar and recited Fateha Khuwani. During the ceremony National anthem was also played.

Jhagra injures in a traffic accident in Jhang

JHANG: Zafar Iqbal Jhagra General Secretary of PML (N) was injured along with his three companions in a traffic accident on Multan Road. Top leader of ruling government in center and provincial was in a serious condition in GHQ Hospital Jhang , but not a single person from district administrations and police was there to take care of him, hence, local MNA Sheikh Muhammed Akram’s son Fawad Akarm with his private guards were there for his protection and care. According to sources, General Secretary of PML (N) was travelling from Jhang to Peshawar while his vehicle collided with a tractor trolly near Doli Shaheed Kat which caused him severe head injuries while his three associates were also severely injured. Rescue 1122 reached at the accident spot and shifted the injured immediately to DHQ Hospital Jhang where his condition is said to be stable.

Funeral prayer of JSQM leaders offer today at Tibet Center

KARACHI: Funeral prayer of JSQM leaders Maqsood Qureshi and Suleman Wadho would be offered at Tibet Center today. Sanan Qureshi said that they would protest at MA Jinnah road today (Sunday). It may be recalled that JSQM leader Maqsood Ahmed Qureshi, the brother of the late former JSQM chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi and his friend Suleman Wadho, were found dead in mysterious circumstances at Bhirya Road, Nausharoferoz, on Friday.

Foreign intervention sabotages talks: Hafiz Saeed

LAHORE: Head of Jamaat ud Dawa Hafiz Saeed Ahmed has said that two nation theory is the base of Pakistan and it will remain as base of our country. He said that the  foreign intervention were sabotaging peace talks process , while India is intervening in Sindh and Baluchistan to create trouble for Pakistan. Addressing to a seminar regarding the Pakistan Day, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed said that it is the policy of US to do propaganda against any country and then attacks on that country.
