SC reserves judgement for prosecutor’s appointment

 ISLAMABAD: Special Court reserved decision related appointment of special prosecutor against high treason case. Anwar Mansoor said that Akram Shaikh has presented Musharraf as a criminal and gave judgement as well, while Akram Shaikh said that if there was any suspect on him of being biased then court is authorised to separate him from the case.
Headed by Justice Faisal Arab in a three member bench heard the treason case. Akram Shaikh provided evidences of apointment of prosecutor instead of Advocate Dr. Tariq Hasan and said that he had been appointed by the competent authority. He also submitted the copy of notification for appointment of the prosecutor. Akram Shaikh informed the court that his TV interview would not appear biased. He said that he did not conceal evidence then ther is no reason of being called biased.
Counsel for Pervez Musharraf Anwar Mansoor said that how could Akram Shaikh say that if Musharraf was being sentenced then President could pardon him. He said that media interview depicts impression that either prosecutor wanted public reputation or was trying to put influence the court.
Anwar Mansoor added that instead of the minister, if a subordinate officer would appoint the prosecutor then it’s not justified. Justice Faisal Arab asked that if minister for law appointed prosecutor then was that true. The court reserved judgement of the case regarding the appointment of the prosecution and adjourned the hearing till tomorrow (Thursday)

I SLAMABAD: Three female students of International Islamic University Islamabad made it to the television headlines on Saturday as a court bailiff recovered them from the university hostel where they were allegedly confined by the administration. Cabinet meeting: Govt’s final decision about Taliban likely today

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet meet got underway in Islamabad today (Tuesday) to discuss key national issues, including the process of dialogue with Taliban and options of military action against them, media reported. According to sources, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar will table the five-year National Security Policy before the cabinet for approval. He would brief the cabinet about the overall law and order situation in the country as well as measures being taken to combat militancy. Sources said that important decisions regarding dialogue with Taliban and action against militants in North Waziristan are also likely to be made during today’s session. They added that the prime minister would take cabinet members in confidence about negotiations with the Taliban and the government future course of strategy.
