ISLAMABAD: On the complaint of the Defence Ministry, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has called a special session today. The meeting will be attended by PEMRA officials and legal team members, which will review to take tough action against Geo TV network, if found guilty.
According to PEMRA sources, the session will look into the application that was submitted to the media regulatory Authority under sections 33 and 36 of the PEMRA Ordinance 2002 , and as per the rules, it will be given a show cause to the said media house.
According to PEMRA rules, if the media house found guilty, it could be fined 10 to 100 million rupees, while their license may also be suspended or cancelled or be given both the penalties.
