PM inaugurates 486 MW projects at Guddu Power Plant
GUDDU: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated 486 MW projects at Guddu Power Plant. Addressing the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the government is committed to make Pakistan a bright and shinning country. Neelam Jehlam and Wasu Dam projects will be finalized soon to produce cheaper electricity.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister described commissioning of two additional power units of Guddu Power Plant as important miles stones.
He said early completion of the two units at Guddu helped in saving Rs 58 billion to national exchequer.
Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed that the government is committed to make Pakistan a bright and shinning country.
The project has been completed five months ahead of the stipulated time with cooperation of a Chinese company. The early completion will save 58.6 billion rupees.
The third unit of similar capacity to be commissioned in May this year, will add a total of 747 MW to the system.
PM praised the Chinese company for its assistance in the project and assured to continue Pak China longstanding Partnership for further projects.
The PM termed the completion of these two power units of Guddu power plant as important mile stones.
He said that 21thousand MW energy would enter into the system in next 8 years. Prime Minister announced bonuses equal to three basic pays for workers.
PM said that dozens of power plants will be established in the country. He further said that the government would soon start Karachi Lahore Motorway.

I SLAMABAD: Three female students of International Islamic University Islamabad made it to the television headlines on Saturday as a court bailiff recovered them from the university hostel where they were allegedly confined by the administration. The university administration however denied the charges strongly, arguing the students were expelled from hostel through disciplinary action, but they opted to lock themselves up in hostel rooms and create the mess through electronic media coverage. Neelum Jehan, Romana and Hiba were allegedly confined by the hostel administration Friday evening with no food and water, and the bailiff recovered them after more than 18 hours of confinement. Cabinet meeting: Govt’s final decision about Taliban likely today

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet meet got underway in Islamabad today (Tuesday) to discuss key national issues, including the process of dialogue with Taliban and options of military action against them, media reported. According to sources, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar will table the five-year National Security Policy before the cabinet for approval. He would brief the cabinet about the overall law and order situation in the country as well as measures being taken to combat militancy. Sources said that important decisions regarding dialogue with Taliban and action against militants in North Waziristan are also likely to be made during today’s session. They added that the prime minister would take cabinet members in confidence about negotiations with the Taliban and the government future course of strategy.
